February, 2007
Colleagues,
I write to share news of a major change in the organization of Information Services. The Network and Telecommunications Services (NTS) and Information Technology (IT) divisions will be integrated, effective July 1, 2007. The new Information Technology division will be under the leadership of Donna Liss, Assoc. Vice Provost for Information Services.
The goal for integrating the two divisions is to promote continuity in the planning, deployment, and management of our information technologies and related services. Today's convergence of content, application tools, and networked delivery mechanisms requires an integrated technology strategy. KU must have an IT organization that reflects the converged environment in which we serve. This alignment also allows us to give focused attention to our diverse constituents including all research enterprise systems, etc.
NTS and IT staff are working together to design a structure that aligns synergistic services and functions, while preserving the continuity of necessarily distinctive activities.
We are committed to serving your needs. As you are well aware, a number of administrative activities must be completed in the next several months. However, this integration process should not result in the disruption of services to the KU Community. Your departments and programs may be notified that some service contacts are changing toward the end of the current fiscal year.
Please refer any questions to the Office of the Vice Provost for Information Services at vpinfo@ku.edu.
Regards,
Denise Stephens
